Jaime Acker

Jaime Acker explores ideas of gender and power using the language of portraiture and performance to empower genderqueer and feminist identities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in arts from the University of Illinois in Chicago, and a master’s in fine arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.  

Acker’s work has been featured in exhibitions at 500X, Beefhaus Gallery, Dallas Medianale 2, and Plush Gallery in Dallas, Texas; Arts Libris, Barcelona, Spain, Porn Film Fest in Berlin, Germany, San Francisco Porn Festival, San Francisco, California, and the Vienna Porn Festival in Vienna, Austria. He has completed two residencies in Berlin, Germany at the Institut für Alles Mögliche, and then at Picture Berlin.   

Jaime Acker has been nominated for awards by the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas for their inaugural FUNd Grant, and the Artpace International Artist in Residence in San Antonio, Texas. Selected publications include Suboart Magazine,  Issue #28  August 2024, and Peachfuzz Magazine Vol.9, 2021.  

 His work is included in the permanent collection of the Willis Library at the University of Texas in Denton, Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas, Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Santa Fe Art Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Jaime Acker lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
